Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa reopens with course upgrades, luxury amenities, and stunning views of Sicily’s famous volcano

SICILY, ITALY – Golfers heading to Sicily this summer can expect an enhanced experience at Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton, as the destination reopens with upgraded facilities and a refreshed course on the slopes of Mount Etna.

Located in the heart of the Sicilian countryside, Picciolo’s par-72 course—the oldest on the island—has undergone a series of improvements, including a full bunker renovation and ongoing upgrades to tee boxes. Designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli and opened in 1989, the layout is known for its narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and scenic mountain views.

The course has a strong tournament pedigree, having hosted multiple events on the Ladies European Tour between 1995 and 2011, as well as the Sicilian Seniors Open in 2010. Practice facilities include a driving range, two short-game areas, and a putting green.

A Resort Experience Beyond Golf

The reopening also marks the resort’s debut as part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, following an extensive renovation. The enhanced offering includes:

Guests can dine at Il Palmento for lunch with à la carte Sicilian dishes like Pasta alla Norma and Caponata, or enjoy refined dinners at La Ghiandaia, the resort’s fine dining restaurant. The clubhouse also includes six guest rooms and a sunny outdoor terrace.

Culture, Scenery, and Cinematic History

Beyond golf, visitors can explore the landscapes featured in acclaimed productions like The White Lotus and The Godfather with local film tours—a unique way to combine sport, culture, and cinema.

“Picciolo is proud to offer a truly special experience,” said co-owner Andrea Scrofani. “We now have facilities that match the quality of our course and local culture. It’s a thrilling time for the resort.”
